After much deliberation on what to do with the neighbouring property we are buying, we finally have the idea we're excited about! We always know we were tearing down the house which sits on a double lot next door. We just did not know whether to make it a living/garden area, or build a guest house on it. We can do BOTH!
We're going to build an underground house and place the garden on top of it. The south side will stay open with glass side to heat it during the winter. By placing the guest house in the ground we will have the double lot for our living/gardening needs.
We're both care about the environment and having the house underground saves on heating costs in the winter and eliminates cooling costs in the summer. Now we just need to figure out how to work out where to put the greenhouse!
